v. To bounce the ball when a player repeatedly pushes, pats, taps or bats the ball toward the floor with one hand to cause the ball to bounce back up to either of his hands. The act of dribbling is usual employed to improve position on the court, to advance the ball or keep control of it, while moving or standing still. Typically the guards are the best dribblers on the team and handle most of the ball handling duties.
